A group of our Key Stage 3 students recently took a trip to Canterbury Christchurch University, where they enjoyed taking part in "Let's Dance" workshops.
Let's Dance is an educational project run by Deal Music and Arts. It focuses on contemporary dance education across the East Kent area. The project's aim is to "encourage dance in conjunction with other art forms to create aspirational performance opportunities for secondary school students."
The project provides a platform for creativity and wellbeing, supports holistic learning, and the development of life skills such as resilience and teamwork.
The dance workshops gave our students the opportunity to be mentored and taught choreography by young dance professionals. These routines will be performed by our students in a show in the Summer.
The dance instructors and members from Deal Music and Arts commented on how wonderful and fantastic our students were, with both Canterbury Christchurch University and Deal Music and Arts wanting to work together again in the future.
We are pleased for our students; they represented the school brilliantly and did themselves proud.
