JUST ONE Tree

In October 2022, our staff and students took part in a 'Wear Something Green Day' to raise money for climate change charity, JUST ONE Tree.

The charity works hard to combat climate change and support reforestation over the world. In October, schools, businesses and individuals across the country took part in the 'Wear Something Green Day', where a tree is planted for every pound raised.

Goodwin Academy raised £155 in total, resulting in 155 trees being planted in specially selected locations. When the next rainy season is upon us, the school's seedlings will be transported from their nurseries to their new homes in one of the following countries;

  • Brazil
  • Madagascar
  • Mozambique
  • Nepal
  • Haiti
  • Indonesia
  • Kenya
  • Zambia

Here, they will be nurtured over the coming years. Our school's 'forest' of trees will remove approximately 47.74 tonnes of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere over the next 25 years.

With our contribution, along with those of other participating groups, we will be supporting global reforestations efforts to clean the air we breathe, clean the water we drink, increase biodiversity, protect against deforestation, improve livelihoods and most importantly combat climate change.
