Students enjoy an 'Impactful' visit from Dover District Council

On Tuesday 27th June, we welcomed the I.M.P.A.C.T Roadshow to Goodwin Academy. The roadshow that is led by Dover District Council, discusses the importance of how we communicate with one another, and its impact on our mental health. It is running from Monday 26th June, visiting 10 local schools across 5 days throughout the week.

The event was attended by students in Year 8 with the I.M.P.A.C.T theme focused on communications, aiming to teach our young people how to become personally resilient in choosing positive action choices.

The session involved guest speakers Nick Evans, from Roads to Freedom CIC, and Kerry Rusk, from the Breck Foundation, who shared powerful stories of addiction, homelessness, relationships, and grooming. They added focus to how the internet is an essential part of daily life and discussed how to use it safely and knowledgeably. The talks were followed by a performance the talented local musician, Jake St Ange and a range of partners showcasing their services to our young people at the end of the roadshow.

Our students found this event extremely interesting and thoroughly enjoyed Jake’s performance. Thank you to the team for joining us.
