Students at Goodwin Academy are celebrating after receiving their GCSE results

Students and staff at Goodwin Academy, located on Hamilton Road and part of Thinking Schools Academy Trust, are celebrating today as students receive their GCSE grades.

The Academy saw particular success in subjects including French, Music and Media and the majority of students achieved a grade 5 or better in Sport, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

We are also very proud to share that a group of our students achieved the top grades of 7-9 and have demonstrated academic excellence and being their BEST.

There are also some standout individual performances. These include:

  • Joseph Cocker who achieved a 9 in Physics and French and an 8 in Maths, English Language, Biology, Chemistry and Business. Joseph also achieved a Distinction* in Sport.
  • Sophie Kubat who achieved a 9 in History and an 8 in Chemistry.
  • Millie Macey who achieved an 8 in Maths, English Language and Biology.
  • Shannon Gregory who achieved an 8 in English Language and English Literature, as well as a Distinction* in Media.

Collecting her GCSE results today, Shannon said:

“I am really happy with my grades; I wasn’t expecting to do so well in English.”

Rachael Moon, Headteacher at Goodwin Academy said:

“I am delighted for our students receiving their GCSE results today. They have worked incredibly hard over the last two years and it is fantastic to see their dedication rewarded with an excellent suite of results.

“We are excited to see what the future holds for them and look forward to welcoming many of them back to our sixth form in September. We would like to say a huge thank you to all our students, parents, carers, staff and the local community for your support and encouragement.”

Stuart Gardner, CEO of Thinking Schools Academy Trust, added:

“I am delighted for our students at Goodwin Academy. They have worked exceptionally hard, and it is great to see them excited about their future. Well done to all!”
