Students get a taste of life in Goodwin Academy’s Sixth Form.
On Thursday 20th January, students attended Goodwin Academy’s first Sixth Form Taster Day, where they had the opportunity to sample a number of subjects the school has to offer in its Key Stage 5 years, including A level Art, A level Photography, Applied Science, A level Biology, BTEC Business, Uniform Protective Services, Criminology, Psychology, BTEC Sport, A level English, A level History and Health and Social Care.
Each subject session included a fun activity for students to try as an introduction to the course. In Business Studies, students created a cash flow using play money; through this, they gained an understanding of the concept of net cash flow and closing balances. In A level Biology, the students took part in a practical experiment, extracting the chlorophylls and carotenoids from plants, while in History, they explored the Salem Witch Trials.
The feedback the school received was extremely positive. It was wonderful to see so many potential students attend and actively take part in the sessions.
