Duke of Edinburgh

What is it about?

The DofE Award gives you the opportunity to experience something completely new or formally recognise something that you are already doing. The Award allows you to venture outside your comfort zone and develop skills that you will use throughout your lifetime. You’ll build confidence, resilience, skills and friendship groups, and you’ll have a brilliant time doing it.

Looking forward, the DofE can help you to carve out a better future. Colleges, universities and employers regard a DofE Award highly so it could help to open the right doors for you. If you’re keen to get off the sofa and put 100% into something that could change your life, then the DofE Award is probably the venture you are looking for.

What is involved?

Once you’ve signed up for the DofE, you can start planning your DofE programme. The Award consists of four sections; Volunteering, Physical, Skill and Expedition. It is your Award so you have the freedom to choose what you want to do when completing your sections. However, if you feel that this is a difficult decision, the Award staff are there to help and give advice to support you at all times.

Perhaps you want to help out at a local youth club or improve your swimming? Learn how to bake or go hiking? Work out what excites you and makes a difference to you and the people around you.

Who can take part?

The Award is designed in such a way that anyone can take part and due to the individual freedom to choose your sections there is an Award pathway for everyone. There is an age limit for the Award and is therefore only available from Year 9. If there are physical, learning or financial issues you feel may prevent you from taking part in the Award then contact us, circumstances and decisions are made on an individual basis.
