History at Goodwin Academy aspires to develop the analytical, interpretive and thinking skills of our learners, skills we believe are necessary for developing and nurturing connections and understanding of past and present. We believe history is a discipline that is paramount to understanding current world politics, economic trends, technological advances, moral and religious choices and environmental issues that we face today.  It is with this in mind that the History department explores ideas orally, collaboratively and in writing to develop learners understanding of change overtime, there will be an emphasis placed on students ability to form and support their own views on events and people from the past using a range of source material selected to nurture language and literacy. History at good win is committed to learners’ acquisition of a cultural capital which is transferable into the wider curriculum of the school and which will aid them in becoming positive and responsible citizens.
